Union seniors celebrate

Apart from the fact that they live in the same town, they were both employed by wiegand-glas. Horst greiner transported the bottles with a forklift truck, and joachim schulz earned his living as a glass sorter.
Both also have the IG BCE in common. He has been a member of the union since 1952, says joachim schulz. 27 years he also represented the interests of the employees as a works council member.
At that time, it was simply necessary to join the union. Already during the first weeks of the company’s membership they were approached by colleagues about the membership. A lot has changed since then, not least because of the IG BCE union. For example, according to horst greiner, in earlier times it was the rule to work six hours on saturday. The weekly working time was 48 hours. The introduction of the 40-hour week, for example, was a merit of the trade union. And what’s more: "being a member of the IG BCE simply made me feel safer!"
The annual senior citizens’ meeting of the IG BCE has a fixed place in the diary for both of them, as do the senior citizens’ meetings at wiegand-glas.
